I'm Katya, hailing from Odessa, and in Tbilisi, I see echoes of my hometown. For an immigrant, this feeling is remarkably familiar: recognizing the city you live in now as the same city where you were born and raised. The project "Tbilisi as Odessa" is my endeavor to capture the essence of Tbilisi through the lens of someone who still holds Odessa dear in her heart.
These photographs, along with the city's architecture and monuments, are a testament to the grandeur of this place. They serve not only as a visual feast for tourists but as a poignant reminder of the hidden courtyards and old corners that evoke the cozy feeling of home for me. Amidst the architectural brilliance, I've found nooks and crannies that whisper nostalgia, making me feel like I've never really left home.
While Tbilisi's streets may be far from my beloved Odessa, there's a sense of familiarity that transcends borders.
