Summer is a rare moment when small miracles can happen, when there is suddenly time, desire, and a possibility to do something differently. Not the way we usually do. Or to finally do something we have long dreamed of, but kept postponing...
And doing it together is more fun, especially when it comes to photo projects.
That is why we decided to create a summer course, during which we will have time to inspire each other and make something beautiful, and, if we are lucky, maybe even something surprising.
About the course
This is a practical course built around shared exercises in developing an idea, using AI for research, looking at examples of photographic series, and finding references that are specifically relevant to your own project.
There will be four meetings: during the first one, you will develop your idea; during the next two, you will look at your work through another person’s eyes, expand your idea, and show your sketches and first images; during the final meeting, you will present what has grown out of it.
Between the meetings, you will photograph at your own pace and for your own pleasure.
What happens during the meetings
At the beginning, we work with the idea: where it comes from, how to shape it, and how not to lose it along the way.
In July and August, we will have art feedback in pairs: you show your work to another participant, they look at it silently, and then tell you what they saw. At KiNO, we have developed a special methodology for giving feedback in a way that is thoughtful, precise, and useful.
In September, there will be a final presentation. Not an exam, not an assessment, just a shared moment of looking at what has grown over the summer.
And, as always, the best works will take part in future KiNO exhibitions.
Who it is for
The course is for those who already have some experience in photography and have something they want to photograph, but somehow never quite get around to doing it. It is not for complete beginners, as we will not be teaching photography from scratch.
