About

We presented an online filmmaking workshop for Ukrainian teenagers aged 14+, offering them the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of cinema. Throughout the course, participants learned to see the world through a filmmaker’s eyes, mastering the art of framing, composition, and color theory. They explored every stage of filmmaking—from scriptwriting and storyboarding to shooting, sound design, and editing—gaining hands-on experience with professional techniques and software. Step by step, they built their skills, ultimately creating their first short films.

Among them was

  • The Melody by Solomiia Surmach explores how the iconic Ukrainian Shchedryk unites and strengthens Ukrainians during the war, blending moments of resilience with the holiday spirit.
  • Left Behind by Vira Kushnir delves into the lasting impact of childhood parental divorce as a young woman uncovers how her past influences her present struggles.
  • Patchwork by Anastasiia Nevmerzhytska offers a personal reflection on grief, challenging the idea that healing follows a linear path.
  • Self-Rejection by Maryna Sudak is a raw and honest look at self-perception and insecurities.
  • Maybe Later? by Polina Prokudina, which follows a young screenwriter struggling with creative burnout and procrastination, affecting her work, relationships, and well-being.

Designed for young people aged 14 to 20 eager to dive into filmmaking, the workshop ran from November 10 to December 22, with weekly Sunday sessions, culminating in a final screening on December 29.
